Nominations are open for the following awards:
Community Service Hero
An individual who has shown outstanding dedication to helping others by volunteering for a local charity, citizens club or community project.
Emergency Services & Frontline Volunteer Hero
An individual dedicated to local emergency organisations like the CFA or SES, whether through volunteer frontline response, disaster recovery, or community education.
Community Sport Hero
An individual who has made an outstanding impact on Ballarat’s sporting community such as volunteer coaches, long-time club administrators or officials.
Entries close on April 11. All entries must also include two additional references to support the nomination.

Entries will be collected via https://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/ballarat/community-heroes (‘Website’)operated by Footscray Football Club Limited trading as “Western Bulldogs” (ABN 68 005 226 595) of 417 Barkly Street, Footscray, VIC, 3011 ('Entry Platform Provider'). The Entry Platform Provider is responsible solely for the collection of entries from the Website, and provision of the entry data to the Promoter. The Promoter remains responsible for the conduct of the Promotion, including prize fulfillment and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Any questions about this Promotion are to be directed to the Promoter and not to the Entry Platform Provider. |

Entry is open to Australia residents aged 18 or over. Please note, those making nominations must have the consent of the person they are nominating. Entrants are permitted to self nominate. All nominated persons must be able to demonstrate that they have acted in a volunteer capacity in the local Ballarat community. |

Nominations are open to local Ballarat residents only who are aged 18 or over at the time of nomination and selection, and who are volunteers in the local community. |
Who cannot be nominated? |
(a) Persons who do not reside in the municipality of Ballarat, Victoria (b) Anyone who is under 18 years at the date of nomination (c) Anyone who does not contribute to the Ballarat community in a volunteer capacity.
Note that Mars and Western Bulldogs employees and relatives of employees are permitted to nominate eligible persons, but are not permitted to be nominated.

There are three winners: one in each of the three Mars Community Hero categories (1. Community Service Hero, 2. Emergency Services and Frontline Volunteer Hero, 3. Community Sporting Hero).

How are prizes winners determined? |
Winners will be determined by a panel of independent judges based on merit, pursuant to the key selection criteria (Juding Criteria). The judging will commence from the 16th of April 2025. There will be three winners selected in total, one from each of the award categories. Winners will be determined based on alignment to judgement criteria.
The judges’ decision is final and the Promoter will not enter into correspondence regarding the result. |

Notification of Winners |
Winners will be notified by Monday 28 April 2025 by SMS. Winning nominators will be asked to put the Promoter in contact with the nominee. Winning nominees will be asked to specify their chosen charity, confirm they agree to these Terms and Conditions, and confirm availability for media and the football game.
The Promoter will manage donations directly with their charity or NFP of choice. The winner will need to provide relevant details of the NPF or charity in order for the Promoter to process the donation. Winners must also be available for media opportunities which may appear in The Courier, Mars and Western Bulldogs platforms, and other media outlets.

Once the three winners are deemed eligible to be winners and to have complied with these Terms and Conditions, the Promoter will declare them a winner and will deliver the relevant donation no later than 28 days after the winner is notified. The Promoter will validate the correct payment details with the nominees specified charity. The donations will be organised via bank transfer to the nominated charities/non-for-profit organisations OR the donations will be organised in line with the standard donation process for each of the nominated charities/not for profits. The Promoter takes no responsibility for incorrect details being provided for the nominated accounts where the donations will be made. Winners must ensure all details for nominated accounts are correct. |

Terms and Conditions
1. These Terms and Conditions must be read together with the Schedule for this promotion. The Schedule prevails to the extent of any inconsistency with these Terms and Conditions.
2. By participating in this promotion, you accept these Terms and Conditions.
Eligibility
3. You can only enter this promotion if you meet the eligibility requirements set out in the Schedule.
Entry
4. The promotion will be conducted during the Nominations Period.
5. All entries must be received by the nominations portal housed on the Western Bulldogs website and mobile app during the Nominations Period. Entries are deemed to have been received at the time of receipt into the Western Bulldogs’ database and not at the time of transmission by the entrant.
6. You can only submit your entry in accordance with the “How to Enter” section of the Schedule. The Promoter will not accept entries in any other form. Once submitted, you cannot change, alter or delete your entry.
7. Incomplete and ineligible nominations will be deemed invalid. Nominations will also be deemed invalid if they breach these Terms and Conditions as determined by the Promoter in its sole discretion or any other instructions or guidelines notified by the Promoter during the entry process for the nominations.
Entry Content
8. You are required to take full responsibility for the content of your entry and for ensuring that your entry complies with these Terms and Conditions and any other instructions provided by the Promoter. For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, “entry content” includes the written copy that you submit, in connection with your entry into the Promotion.
9. Your entry must be your own original work. The Promoter reserves the right to verify, or to require you to verify, that your entry is your own original work. If an entry cannot be verified to the Promoter’s satisfaction, the entry will be deemed invalid.
10. Your entry must not:
a. include any content which may diminish the good name and reputation of the Promoter and nominee or its products and brands;
b. feature any image or voice of any other person without that person’s express consent. You confirm that if such content is included in your entry, you have obtained the express consent of the relevant person/s;
c. include any content that is in violation of any law or regulation;
d. Have the consent of the nominee and not be fraudulent, deceptive or misleading in any way;
e. include any content that infringes the rights of any person;
f. be obscene, offensive, defamatory, discriminatory, indecent or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate (which includes, without limitation, any content involving nudity, malice, excessive violence or swearing);
g. include any literary, dramatic, musical or artistic work, any audio-visual or sound recording, or any other item in which copyright subsists, unless you are entitled to use such content. If you have any doubts about whether to include any content (for example, recorded music) you must not include it. By including such content in your entry, you warrant to the Promoter that you have the permission of the relevant copyright owner to do so and that this permission allows the Promoter to use the entry to publicise the promotion and for any other purpose as set out in these Terms and Conditions; and
h. feature any third-party products, third party trademarks, names, logos or branding.
The Promoter may, in its absolute discretion, edit, modify, delete, remove or take-down any part of an entry at any time. By entering this nomination , you agree to assign all rights in your entry to the Promoter and its affiliates, and you consent to the Promoter and its affiliates (or the agencies/companies associated with the Promoter) using the entry in any manner the Promoter wishes (including modifying, adapting or publishing the entry, whether in original or modified form, in whole or in part or not at all), in marketing, advertising and promotional materials, on the Promoter’s websites and social media platforms or in any other manner as determined by the Promoter, without payment to you (of royalties, compensation or otherwise) on a perpetual, world-wide and irrevocable basis. Each entrant agrees to irrevocably and unconditionally waive any and all moral rights they have, or may accrue, in relation to their entry.
Determining and notifying winners
15. Winners will be determined and notified as set out in the Schedule.
16. The Promoter and the companies and agencies associated with this promotion may also publish the name and state/territory of residence for winners on their websites, social media platforms and in trade publications. By submitting a nomination, each entrant consents to this and requests that his or her full address not be published.
Donations
17. The donations are as specified in the Schedule. The donations are subject to any additional terms and conditions as specified in the Schedule.
18. Donations will be processed and delivered to the winners’ charity or not for profit organisation of choice, which will only be identified once the winners are identified and informed of having received a Community Hero Award.
Claiming donations
19. Donations must be processed in accordance with the Donations Claim Details section of the Schedule.
20. If a donation is not accepted or claimed in accordance with the Donations Claim Details, the relevant winner’s entry will be deemed invalid and the Promoter reserves the right to distribute the relevant unclaimed donation in accordance with the details specified in the Schedule, subject to any directions given by any relevant gaming authority. Winners of unclaimed donations will be notified and published in accordance with the details set out in the Schedule.
General
21. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any problems or technical malfunction of any communication network or for any late, lost, incomplete, incorrectly submitted, delayed, illegible, corrupted or misdirected entries, claims or correspondence whether due to error, omission, alteration, tampering, deletion, theft, destruction, transmission interruption, communications failure or otherwise. The Promoter is not liable for any consequences of user error including (without limitation) any costs incurred.
22. The Promoter may, at its sole discretion, declare any or all nominations made by an entrant invalid, prohibit further participation by an entrant or winner in this promotion, or invalidate a provisional winner if the entrant/winner:
a. fails to verify their personal details and/or eligibility to enter the Promotion to the Promoter's satisfaction;
b. tampers with or benefits from any tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Promotion;
c. submits an entry which in the Promoter's opinion is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions;
d. acts in a disruptive manner or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person;
e. engages in conduct in entering the Promotion which in the Promoter’s opinion is fraudulent, misleading or deceptive;
f. or engages in conduct which may, in the opinion of the Promoter, compromise the integrity or diminish the good name and reputation of the Promoter or its products and brands, is contrary to law or otherwise inappropriate.
23. Entrants and winners must comply with the verification requirements set out in the Schedule as part of the entry verification process. Failure to comply with these requirements to the Promoter’s satisfaction will result in your entry being declared invalid (and, at the Promoter’s discretion, in all of your entries declared invalid).
24. All entries will be the property of the Promoter and will not be returned.
25. Donations are not transferable, exchangeable for any other item or size and cannot be redeemed for cash or any other form of compensation (unless cash is specified). The value of each prize is accurate as at the time of preparation of this material, is the RRP value and is inclusive of GST.
26. If a winner (or a companion, as applicable) does not take an element of a prize at the time stipulated by the Promoter, then that element of the prize will be forfeited by the winner and their companion(s) as applicable and neither cash nor any other form of compensation will be supplied in lieu of that element of the prize. The Promoter accepts no other liability or responsibility for any loss incurred by a winner or any other party if any prize (or any part of a prize) is unavailable for any reason.
27. If requested by the Promoter, entrants and winners must sign an indemnity and exclusion of liability form provided by the Promoter, in favour of the Promoter and all parties involved in this promotion and/or providing the prize, before they participate in the Promotion and/or the prize. Where an entry is declared invalid prior to the Prize Claim Date, the Promoter may determine a new winner in accordance with these terms.
28. If requested by the Promoter, entrants and winners must participate in all promotional activity (such as publicity and photography) surrounding this Promotion or their winning of a prize, free of charge, and they consent to the Promoter and its associated companies and agencies using their name and image in promotional material, on the Promoter’s websites, social media platforms and in trade publications.
29. If for any reason any aspect of this promotion does not or is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any cause beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the Promoter may in its sole discretion cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion, or invalidate any affected entries, subject to the approval of the relevant gaming authorities, if required.
30. The Promoter’s decisions in connection with the promotion are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
31. The Promoter, its associated agencies and companies and the agencies and companies associated with this Promotion will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense, damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this Promotion or accepting or using a prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law).
32. Donations will only be delivered to the local Ballarat charities or not-for-profit organisations, as identified by the winers, as applicable. The Promoter and its associated agencies and companies will not be liable for delay in settlement of funds.
33. The Promoter may at its absolute discretion prohibit a nominator or winner’s participation in this Promotion, cancel or suspend a donation or other cease to provide any donation to the nominated charity or not for profit organisation if the nominator or winner is (in the Promoter’s opinion) under the influence of alcohol or drugs, behaves aggressively or disruptively, or behaves in a manner which may diminish the good name and reputation of the Promoter or its products and brands, or is contrary to law or is otherwise inappropriate.
34. Personal information provided by entrants will be collected and used by the Promoter for the purpose of conducting and administering this Promotion and otherwise in accordance with entrants’ consent. Personal information will be stored on the Promoter's database. The Promoter is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and its privacy policy which is located at www.mars.com/privacy. The Promoter's privacy policy contains information about how the entrant may access, update and seek correction of the personal information the Promoter holds about them and how the entrant may complain about any potential breach by the Promoter of the Australian Privacy Principles or any other Australian privacy laws and how such complaints will be dealt with. Entrants may change their privacy preferences at any time by accessing the Privacy Web Form. The Promoter collects personal information about entrants to enable them to participate in this Promotion and may disclose the entrants' personal information to third parties including its contractors and agents, prize suppliers and service providers to assist in conducting this Promotion. If the entrant does not provide their personal information as requested, they may be ineligible to enter or claim a prize in the Promotion. Personal information collected from entrants may be disclosed to entities located outside of Australia, in accordance with the privacy policy.
35. The Western Bulldogs collect personal information ("PI") in order to conduct the Promotion and for the purposes of your entry into the Promotion and may, for this purpose, disclose such PI to third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers, prize suppliers and, as required, to Australian regulatory authorities. Entry is conditional on providing this PI. The Western Bulldogs will also use and handle PI as set out in its Privacy Policy, which can be viewed at www.westernbulldogs.com.au/privacy. The Privacy Policy also contains information about how entrants may opt out, access, update or correct their PI, how entrants may complain about a breach of the Australian Privacy Principles or any other applicable law and how those complaints will be dealt with. The Western Bulldogs may disclose PI to entities outside of Australia, see the Western Bulldog’s Privacy Policy for details. For the removal of doubt, the Western Bulldogs will only use PI as set out above and in accordance with its Privacy Policy, the Western Bulldogs will not sell PI to 3rd parties.
36. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from the prize winnings. Independent financial advice should be sought. Where the operation of this Promotion results in, for GST purposes, supplies being made for non-monetary consideration, entrants agree to follow the Australian Taxation Office’s stated view that where the parties are at arm’s length, goods and services exchanged are of equal GST inclusive market values.
37. ENTRY PLATFORM PROVIDER – LIMITATION OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY
1. The Entry Platform Provider is responsible for the collection of entries via the Website and provision of entry data to the Promoter or its representatives only. The Entry Platform Provider acts only as a service provider and bears no responsibility or liability for: a) the conduct, administration, or fulfillment of the Promotion; b) the selection of winners or prize distribution; c) compliance with relevant trade promotion laws, permits, or regulations; d) any representations or warranties regarding prizes; or e) any claims or disputes arising from the Promotion.
2. Promoter's Responsibilities: The Promoter acknowledges and agrees that it is solely responsible for: a) the lawful conduct of the Promotion in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and permits; b) the secure handling, storage, use, and processing of all personal information collected through the Promotion in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Australian Privacy Principles; c) responding to and managing any data breaches related to information collected through the Promotion, including compliance with mandatory data breach notification requirements; and d) all prize fulfilment and associated obligations.
3. Indemnification: The Promoter hereby indemnifies, defends, and holds harmless the Entry Platform Provider and its directors, officers, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, actions, demands, liabilities, losses, damages, judgments, settlements, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: a) the Promotion; b) any breach or alleged breach of these Terms and Conditions by the Promoter; c) any data breach or privacy violation related to information collected through the Promotion; d) any failure to comply with applicable laws or regulations; and/or e) any prize-related claims or disputes.
4. No Agency Relationship: Nothing in these Terms and Conditions creates any agency, partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship between the Promoter and the Entry Platform Provider.
